Coinsetter Review

Coinsetter was founded at 2012 and it is a New York (US) based company. They are aiming to create really trustworthy Forex platform for Bitcoins (maybe later we can excpect other cryptocurrencies to join). The project is relatively new to the market but it already raised $ 500k in seed capital from Tribeca Venture Partners, SecondMarket founder and CEO Barry Silbert (through his Bitcoin Opportunity Fund), with cooperation from angel investors Jimmy Furland, Microsoft Head of Corporate Strategy, Charles Songhurst, and Facebook Product Lead, Ben Davenport.

It sounds promising, but for today platform is in its beta phase and still under development. It has some drawbacks but not major. We like that company emphasizes trust, transparency and very good transaction times. We hope they will deliver on those arguments.
Coinsetter’s server is located in New York, US (as company itself).

Platform still lacks mobile app, but you can use responsive website, thus it’s a bit frustrating but doable. Coinsetter’s API is one of the best in the market. It provides whole spectrum of data, tutorials and help. Very good news for other bitcoin related businesses.

Mainly used currency on the platform is USD. Trading fees are similar to other players in the market and varies depending on amounts traded. Starts at 0.50% (for small amounts up to 99BTC) and lowest point are 0.20% (for trades exceeding 1000 BTC). All fees are per trade.

In order to use platform you have to fill in web form and then wait for invitation to join. So its not light speed process.

We liked:

- Solid statements and wall street “looks”
- Quick transactions
- Fare prices
- API
- Reputable founders
- Active blog

We weren’t so sure about:

- Will company deliver in the long run
- Very young company

We hated:

- Invitation policy
- No mobile app
